You may apply for this service in case:

  1. When a person has no Surname and wishes to split his "Given Name" as "Given Name" and "Surname".
  2. Addition of "Surname" where a person previously only had "Given Name".

Important Points:

  1. Know your correct jurisdiction before applying, and ensure you apply at the correct Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC). For more details, refer to the "How to Apply" section or "Jurisdiction" section.
  2. Applicants are required to submit a recent copy of Address Proof along with the passport application.
  3. Consular surcharge of BHD 2 shall be levied on all passport services and must be paid along with passport fee and service fee, as specified in the fee details section
  4. Processing of a completed passport application may take up to seven weeks. Applicants will receive periodic SMS alerts during different stages of the application process. Applicants are advised to use the "Track Application" page to know the current status of the application process.
  5. Tatkal facility is not available at Indian Embassy and Consulates.
  6. Applicants coming to the Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) for application submission must have a prior appointment, and must visit the ICAC at the designated date and time only, as per the appointment letter. Applicants coming in without an appointment will not be entertained. 
  7. Fees submission at the Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) can be made through cash. 
  8. Applicants availing the Postal Service must include the proof of payment along with other documents, as per the checklist. 
  9. Applicants must ensure that they have all the supporting documents, as mentioned in the "Documents Checklist" section. Incomplete applications will not be accepted at the Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC)

Follow the below steps in order to apply

  1. Create an account (Register yourself) on Bahrain Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) website. Click Here to register.
  2. Fill the online application form on Govt of India's web portal (Indian Citizenship Online Portal). Please note that the form can be filled only online, and no further modifications are possible. Thus, filing of wrong and incorrect detail may cause rejection / cancellation of application at any stage.
  3. Book your appointment online at Bahrain Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) website. You can choose a convenient date and time to visit the Bahrain ICAC for your application submission. Click Here to book your appointment online.
  4. Ensure that you have all documents ready, exactly as per the "Documents Checklist" section.
  5. Visit the Bahrain ICAC, as per your jurisdiction. The address and location of the ICAC will be clearly mentioned in the appontment letter. 
  6. Kindly ensure you reach the ICAC 15 minutes prior to your appointment time. 
  7. Submit your application and deposit your fees at Bahrain ICAC. You can check the fee for this application under the "Fee Details" section. 
  8. Your application submission process is now complete! You can avail our Courier service to get your processed document delivered to your doorstep!
  9. While your application is in process, you can track your application to know the current stage of your application process. Click Here to track your application online. 
  10. Please Note:
    • Applicant needs to submit a copy (FORM XXII) in PDF format at Bahrain ICAC in person. Applicant's details must be vouched by another Indian national on Form XXII who is not a family member of the applicant. Copy of witness’ passport must be provided and presence of witness is not mandatory.
    • Signing of form XXII and submission of the application must be done in person at Bahrain ICAC
    • In case applicant’s last Indian passport is with Bahrain authorities, the applicant should contact the concerned Bahrain authorities to provide the applicant with their passport. If the same had been forwarded to the Embassy or an Indian Consulate, the respective Indian Embassy should be contacted to get back the last Indian passport. The Applicant has to submit physical copy of their passport along with the above mentioned two documents.
